In 1999 I started a Pre - School in the name of “Sri Ram Nursery” with 30 children at Library Hall of Lower Division, Telbedde Estate, Badulla as a volunteer for 3 years of period.
I gain some trainings regarding on Pre – Schools conduction wit the support of two I. R. D. P. Officials. Without any facilities I organized exhibitions, tours & many recreation activities with the support of parents.
The innocent parents are very keen and interested to continue the nursery but unfortunately I had to handover Library building to the Government in year 2002.
On 14th of February 2005 again I started the pre – School as a Volunteer with the support of Mr. Ramasamy Sir (Retired School Principal & Founder of BD / Bharathy Maha Vidyalayam). I faced many difficulties to conduct this pre - School in a building at BD / No. 01 Telbedde Vidyalayam, after their school sessions.
From this year January I joined with Social Aid Foundation. They’re managing our school in a structural method. We’re submitting our reports in each week end meetings at Auditorium of Social Aid Foundation. I believe this voluntary Social Service organization will be a good guardian to our pre – Schools.
Herewith I’m inviting you all to hand shake with us to brush up knowledge of children of Up – Country in Sri – Lanka.
After taking over by the Social Aid Foundation, they prepared a uniform to all the Students, and they gave a list of equipments to each parent. By these activities they are trying to get the participation of parents in their child’s development.
The Volunteers of Social Aid Foundation is making field visit once a month. During this field visits they prepare a Performance Report on our Pre – School. That report will be highlighted in every meeting by the Inspectors. In each Field inspection the Inspectors can observe directly, actually what we are doing & it is help full for us to solve and rectify the problems easily with the SAF Facilitators. Inspection Report & the Analysing activities help us to correct our mistakes. Our 19 Pre –School Teachers are working as a group. We can share the knowledge in each meeting, and the Children too can be nurtured with the knowledge of various experienced Teachers by attending to our Pre – Schools, according to the instructions made by the Administrators of SAF. Also, the Office bearers of Educational Department too are making inspections to our Pre – School while they are making inspections to Government Schools as because of our Pre – School is annexed to the BD / No. 1 Tamil Vidyalayam, Lower Division, Telbedde Estate, Badulla.
I did not have any Indoor Play materials earlier when I was conducting this School twice. Fortunately this time a SAF Volunteer & Donor donated some indoor Play materials to our children. Also, this new method of equipments & method of management are really novelties to us. I never observed any such types of standard structures.
Most of the children are very active. Some poor parents could not afford to provide proper meals to these children. For such children, I arrange some meals with the support of my family.
In our playable education system it helps to teach Tamil, Sinhala & English languages too. We believe each of our activities will encourage the childhood to be bright & active people to this universal.
This is our Pre – School building. It annexed with the BD / No. 1 Tamil Vidyalayam, Lower Division, Telbedde Estate, Badulla. SAF Volunteers made many requests to various stake holders of the society with the well wishers of Telbedde Estate. Finally, the Principal of the above mentioned school granted the premises to put up a building. With the support of SAF & Estate Management of Balangoda Plantation we built a temporary shed as Pre – School. Actually we’re in a temporary shed but, it help us to provide knowledge for 22 children at Telbedde successfully.
Volunteers, Parents & well wishers are supporting me to conduct this Pre – School successfully.
I’m proud about my self for extending my volunteer services to these children happily.
What ever the situation may be, I’ll never leave this Pre – School conduction. I’ll continue my duties with SAF.
